Discover the Art of Taxidermy. Step into the world of taxidermy and explore the fascinating art of bird wing preservation in this beginner-friendly workshop. This half-day experience is designed to challenge and inspire, whether you're an artist, nature enthusiast, or simply curious about taxidermy.
What You'll Learn: Under the expert guidance of renowned taxidermist Teori Shannon, you’ll master:
Specimen Evaluation: Learn to assess the viability of specimens.
Skinning & Defleshing: Understand the delicate process of preparing the wing.
Skin Preservation: Dive into techniques used in museums worldwide.
Positioning & Feather Preening: Create a lifelike display with precision.
By the end of the workshop, you'll proudly take home your preserved bird wing, beautifully showcased in a shadow box frame.
Details You Need to Know:
Specimen may vary due to conditons’s and quantity (Tyto alba)
Skill Level: Beginner (no prior experience required!)
Age Requirement: 14+
Materials: Ethically sourced specimens; borax and acetone will be used.
